Dublin, April 8 (Hibya) – Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris said he welcomed the overnight developments and the ceasefire agreement aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting its economic and diplomatic implications.
Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris made a statement regarding the temporary ceasefire and the reopening of trade routes following tensions on the international stage.
Emphasizing the difficulty and importance of the process, Harris said, “I welcome the developments that took place overnight after hours of extremely concerning and unacceptable threats that went far beyond international norms.”
Stating that the agreement should lead to lasting peace, Harris added, “A temporary ceasefire agreed upon to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz offers a window of opportunity that must be fully utilized to bring a sustainable and lasting end to the conflict.”
Assessing the economic implications, Harris said, “From an economic perspective, these developments are positive when considering the almost unimaginable alternative. In recent hours, we have seen a positive reaction in oil prices, but it is still too early, and the situation remains highly volatile.”
