Ghebreyesus: The climate crisis is now a health crisis
Geneva, July 7 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized that the climate crisis has become not only an environmental issue but also a global health concern.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the climate crisis is now a global health emergency.
“Healthy people cannot live on a sick planet,” he said, stressing that climate change is no longer a distant threat but a pressing health crisis we are currently facing.
He pointed out that greenhouse gas emissions affect not only the planet but directly impact human health, noting that air pollution causes nearly 7 million deaths annually.
