G7 Foreign Ministers issue statement on China’s military drills around Taiwan
London, April 6 (Hibya) – The Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States released a statement regarding China’s large-scale military drills around Taiwan.
In the joint statement, the G7 Foreign Ministers and the EU High Representative expressed deep concern over China’s provocative actions, especially its recent large-scale military exercises around Taiwan.
The statement noted that these increasingly frequent and destabilizing actions are heightening tensions across the Taiwan Strait and threatening global security and prosperity.
“G7 members and the broader international community have a vested interest in maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. We oppose any unilateral actions that threaten this peace, including through force or coercion. G7 members continue to encourage the peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues through constructive dialogue.”
