In the United Kingdom, the FTSE 100 index fell 0.79 percent to 10,458.50 points. In Italy, the FTSE MIB index declined 2.51 percent to 49,972.25 points.
Among Europe's other major indices, the STOXX 600 remained flat at 630.25 points, Germany's DAX at 25,104.36 points and France's CAC 40 at 7,769.21 points.
