European Parliament: Equal work should mean equal pay
Brussels, 17 November (Hibya) – The European Parliament issued a statement regarding the gender pay gap.
The Parliament emphasized in its statement that equal work should mean equal pay.
It noted that the gender pay gap in the EU is real, with women earning on average 12 percent less per hour than men.
“EU Equal Pay Day marks the date when women working in the EU start earning the same amount as men for the year; meaning that from today, women theoretically ‘work for free’.”
