EU postpones the implementation date of the revised regulation
The Council of the European Union has approved the decision to postpone the implementation date of several provisions of the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation, revised in 2024, to 1 January 2028.
According to the Council’s statement, the decision to delay the entry into force of many provisions revised in 2024 under the CLP Regulation to 1 January 2028 has been confirmed.
The postponement covers all implementation dates of transitional provisions, including labelling, mandatory formatting, advertising, online and distance sales, and the labelling of fuel pumps.
These dates, which posed a heavy burden especially for SMEs, have been moved from 1 July 2026 and 1 January 2027 to 1 January 2028. The regulation also grants additional time for negotiations on other amendments in the second part.
