EU Commission President Leyen met with US President Trump
Brussels, September 16 (Hibya) – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a meeting with United States President Donald Trump.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that she had a positive discussion with US President Donald Trump on strengthening joint efforts to increase economic pressure on Russia through additional measures.
She noted that the Commission will soon present the 19th sanctions package, targeting cryptocurrencies, banks, and energy, and added:
"Russia’s war economy, sustained by revenues from fossil fuels, is financing the bloodshed in Ukraine. The Commission will propose a gradual halt to fossil fuel imports from Russia to put an end to this."
