Costa: Multilateralism is the only realistic way to address the challenges of our time
New York, September 24 (Hibya) – European Council President Antonio Costa said that multilateralism is the only realistic way to address the defining challenges of our time, such as peace and security, the climate emergency, economic insecurity and artificial intelligence.
European Council President Antonio Costa made a statement on the European Union's approach to multilateralism. Costa said the EU needs strong, effective and inclusive multilateralism capable of delivering concrete results for people.
Costa said that in this context, the EU had joined forces with Australia, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, India and Kenya to launch the Partners for Multilateralism, International Law, Peace and Prosperity (P4M) initiative.
Emphasizing that shared determination must translate into concrete action, Costa said Russia's aggression must be brought to an end and that a just and lasting peace must be achieved in Ukraine in line with the UN Charter, with respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Costa emphasized the need to end the suffering of civilians in Gaza and Palestine, advance the Two-State solution and resolve the conflict in Iran through peaceful means.
