Canada announces new sanctions against Iran
Ottawa, September 23 (Hibya) - Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced that additional sanctions will be imposed on five individuals and five entities over their roles in the repression of people in Iran.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said that the sanctioned individuals and entities contributed to suppressing dissenting voices and restricting fundamental freedoms, including through digital surveillance, censorship, unlawful violence, arbitrary detention and intimidation tactics.
Anand said Canada would continue to use all tools at its disposal to hold the Iranian authorities accountable for these actions and that they would continue to stand with the Iranian people.
