Baqaei: It was a blatant act of aggression against a sovereign state
Tehran, May 22 (Hibya)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei argued that the United States' withdrawal from the JCPOA and attacks against Iran violated international law.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated that the current crisis in the region is linked to the United States' withdrawal from the nuclear deal JCPOA in 2018.
Baqaei said that these developments could have been prevented, emphasizing that international law “does not grant aggressors the right to use force arbitrarily”, and added: "The American-Israeli attack against Iran cannot be downplayed or reframed merely as an “unnecessary war”. It was a clear violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter — a blatant act of aggression against a sovereign state. Any nation that values the rule of law and the UN Charter should unequivocally condemn this act of aggression and call for accountability."
