Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed called on citizens to embrace unity and reconciliation ahead of the country's historic national dialogue process.
Inviting everyone who seeks lasting peace, stability, and prosperity to contribute to the process, Ahmed said: "The dialogue process that will begin tomorrow is not merely an ordinary political platform. It also marks the beginning of a new chapter in our history and will determine the destiny of both our generation and future generations."
Emphasizing that Ethiopia today needs advocates of peace rather than those who bear arms, Ahmed said: "Today, our country is not looking for those who carry rifles; it is seeking pioneers of peace who possess intellectual maturity, truth, knowledge, and unwavering determination."
Stating that all challenges can be overcome through national reconciliation and dialogue, Ahmed concluded: "Through civilized debate, peaceful dialogue, and national reconciliation, we will overcome all the challenges before us and move forward together toward prosperity."
