166 people arrested across Europe over child abuse material
Warsaw, April 10 (Hibya) – A total of 166 people have been arrested across Europe as part of a police crackdown on the online distribution of child abuse material.
In a police operation targeting a group involved in trading child abuse material in Europe, over half a million videos and photos were found. Police said the investigation is linked to the KidFlix case.
The operation spans eleven countries, with the highest number of arrests taking place in Poland – 98 in total.
Among those arrested were individuals who produced both photo and video content. By sharing these on chat sites, they caused significant physical and psychological harm to minors. Some of the perpetrators were also relatives or guardians of the victims.
In Poland, around 600 police officers participated in the operation, 159 homes were searched, and more than 1,700 devices and data were seized. A total of over 520,000 videos and photos were discovered during the searches.
Polish police stated that the investigation is connected to another major operation targeting KidFlix, one of the largest online communities for sharing child abuse content. Europol announced last week that around 80 people had been arrested in connection with the KidFlix investigation.
