Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the challenges and future prospects related to the development of mountainous areas were assessed.

Thanking the communities that welcomed internally displaced citizens and businesses during the war, Zelensky said, “During our meeting with representatives of communities in mountainous regions, we discussed the challenges and prospects for the development of mountainous areas. I am grateful to every community that welcomes Ukrainian businesses and people, supports the economy and helps the front.”

Referring to the regional integration project and the role of local administrations, Zelensky said, “I spoke about preparations for the ‘Carpathian Integration Initiative’ Summit, and I hope that communities, especially local communities, will take advantage of this opportunity and be represented there.”

Pointing to issues awaiting solutions at the local level, Zelensky concluded his statement by saying, “We also discussed issues that are important at the local level: taxation of the forestry sector and the tourism tax, road development and financing, providing communities with the necessary vehicles, and optimizing the school network.”
