Zakharova warns South Korea of retaliation
Moscow, February 23 (Hibya) – Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova warned that Moscow would retaliate if South Korea joins the arms assistance program for Ukraine (PURL).
According to CCTV, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova emphasized that Russia appreciates South Korea’s previous decision not to participate in arming Ukraine, noting that this constitutes a necessary basis for maintaining bilateral relations and a prerequisite for restoring dialogue and cooperation.
Zakharova reiterated that any participation by South Korea in the arms assistance program would only delay expectations for resolving the conflict, cause irreparable damage to Russia–South Korea relations, and force Russia to take retaliatory measures.
According to sources within the South Korean government, the government is currently reviewing the possibility of joining PURL, a mechanism launched by the United States and NATO through which NATO member states provide funding via voluntary contributions for the purchase of American weapons and technology for Ukraine.
