WHO: Alcohol Use Increasing Among Youth
Geneva, April 30 (Hibya) – The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that alcohol consumption among youth aged 15 to 19 has reached alarming levels.
According to WHO data, one in four teenagers consumes alcohol. Youth who have easy access to alcohol at home tend to start drinking at an earlier age, which may lead to long-term negative effects.
The statement noted that early alcohol use is directly associated with the following risks:
“Mental health problems, poor academic performance, addiction, and long-term health issues”
WHO called on parents to have open and informed conversations with their children about alcohol and to create a safe and healthy home environment.
