Gold prices rose 0.28 percent to 4,821.60, while silver also gained 0.40 percent to reach 79.025.
By contrast, copper prices fell about 0.56 percent to 6.0425. Platinum declined 0.89 percent to 2,093.30, while palladium dropped 1.19 percent to 1,562.50.
Overall, gold and silver posted gains among precious metals, while a selling-led trend stood out in the other metals.
