U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance booed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games
Rome, February 7 (Hibya) – According to reports by many international media outlets, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance was booed on Friday during the Olympic opening ceremony as the U.S. team was being introduced.
Ahead of the Olympic Games, extensive security measures were put in place around J.D. Vance, and he traveled to Milan with 14 aircraft and 300 security personnel.
Prior to the opening ceremony, protests were held in the city’s streets due to the presence of the U.S. leadership. International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry had previously called on spectators to show respect and refrain from booing.
In a statement made before the opening ceremony, Kirsty Coventry said, “I hope the opening ceremony will be seen by everyone as an opportunity to show mutual respect.”
