US to send envoy to Moscow to discuss peace proposals
Washington, November 26 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump said that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will meet with Vladimir Putin in Moscow to discuss proposals to end the war in Ukraine.
The U.S. President stated that “only a few points of disagreement remain” in the negotiations, but no progress has been made on territorial control and security guarantees, reducing expectations for urgent peace summits.
Following a one-day round of talks in Abu Dhabi involving American, Russian, and Ukrainian officials, Trump wrote on Truth Social: “I look forward to meeting President Zelensky and President Putin soon, but ONLY when the agreement to end this war is FINAL or in its last stages.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is willing to meet Donald Trump as soon as possible to discuss the final details of the agreement.
However, Trump said he would instead send U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll to Ukraine for further negotiations. According to Zelensky’s Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak, the official—who has suddenly taken on a central role in the peace talks—is expected to be in Kyiv this weekend.
