UNRWA: Storms and heavy rains damaged temporary shelters in Gaza
New York, December 30 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that severe storms, strong winds and heavy rainfall in Gaza damaged tents used as temporary shelters, rendering some of them completely unusable.
In its statement, UNRWA said Israeli authorities continue to block the direct entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, preventing essential shelter materials from reaching hundreds of thousands of people. The statement stressed the urgent need for tents, tarpaulins and other basic shelter equipment.
The agency emphasized that humanitarian assistance for civilians struggling to survive in Gaza must be allowed to enter the area without any obstacles, warning that the current situation is further deepening the humanitarian crisis.
UNRWA called for immediate and uninterrupted humanitarian access to meet basic needs, particularly shelter.
