UNRWA: consequences of the storm in Gaza are man-made
Gaza, December 29 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that following Storm Byron, which has affected Gaza since December 10, 17 buildings collapsed and more than 42,000 tents and temporary shelters were damaged.
UNRWA reported that due to months of war and displacement, people in Gaza are being forced to live among collapsing debris, in temporary shelters and in fragile tents.
The statement emphasized that Storm Byron, which struck Gaza from December 10, is a natural hazard, but the resulting consequences are man-made.
According to data from the Shelter Cluster in Gaza, between December 10 and 17, 17 buildings collapsed, more than 42,000 tents or temporary shelters suffered full or partial damage, and at least 235,000 people were affected.
