UN: Water is not a privilege, but a right
New York, April 28 (Hibya) - The United Nations (UN) stated that water is not a privilege but a basic human right.
The United Nations (UN) announced that water is a fundamental human right, not a privilege.
In a statement, the UN said: "Billions of people still lack access to safe drinking water and sanitation, and the climate crisis is worsening the situation. Global goals aim to address the water crisis. Access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene is a basic human need for health and well-being. However, unless progress is quadrupled, billions of people will be deprived of these basic services by 2030. Demand for water is rising due to rapidly growing populations, urbanization, and increasing needs from the agricultural, industrial, and energy sectors. Water demand has already outpaced population growth, and half of the world’s population experiences severe water scarcity for at least one month per year. With global temperatures rising due to climate change, water scarcity is expected to worsen further."
