Umerov: Steps for an honorable peace are being coordinated
Kyiv, May 8 (Hibya) - Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov raised humanitarian issues and the return of prisoners of war during his contacts in the United States. The peace process was also discussed during the meetings.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Umerov held a meeting in the United States with US President’s Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The main agenda of the meeting focused on humanitarian issues, including the return of Ukrainian prisoners held by Russia. Umerov emphasized that this issue remains one of Ukraine’s top priorities.
It was also reported that the parties discussed accelerating the diplomatic process and coordinating additional steps that could be taken to achieve an “honorable peace.”
Following the meeting, Umerov briefed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the contacts.
The Ukrainian official thanked the US side for the constructive dialogue and their support for Ukraine.
