Budapest, Nov. 27 (Hibya) – Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto, after receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Banja Luka today, stated that this recognition belongs to everyone who contributes to building relations based on friendship and mutual respect with the Republic of Srpska. In his speech, Szijjarto emphasized that Ukraine brings risks of war and instability to the European Union.
Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto received his honorary doctorate today from the University of Banja Luka. He underlined that “this recognition belongs to all who contribute to establishing friendly relations with the Republic of Srpska,” stressing that the stability of the Western Balkans is a fundamental national security interest for Hungary.
Szijjarto said, “While there is a war on our eastern border, any instability coming from the south could have serious consequences,” adding that Hungary supports peace, integration, and development in the region.
The Hungarian minister further stated that claiming Ukraine is more prepared for EU membership than the Western Balkans is “simply a bad joke.” He added: “The truth is that the Western Balkans will strengthen the EU, whereas Ukraine brings risks of war and instability.”
