Syrian Army: Threat continues in Aleppo and eastern countryside
Aleppo, January 16 (Hibya) – The Syrian Army Operations Command announced that security risks persist in Aleppo and its eastern countryside, with new movements by PKK/YPG elements detected.
In a statement, the Syrian Army Operations Command said that despite mediation attempts by some parties and efforts to eliminate threats in eastern Aleppo, the danger to Aleppo city and its eastern countryside continues.
The statement noted that terrorist Bahoz Erdal was identified as having arrived from the Qandil Mountains to the Tabqa area, and that PKK members intend to direct military activities against the Syrian people and the army from there. It added that, as part of preparations for new attacks against civilians in Aleppo and its eastern countryside, numerous Iranian-made drones were transferred to the Maskanah and Deir Hafir areas.
The Command reported that new groups composed of PKK members and remnants of the former regime have reached the Tabqa area, and that their transfer to deployment points in Deir Hafir, Maskanah, and surrounding areas is being monitored. It also noted that the Syrian Army continues its efforts to ensure civilian safety in areas used as bases by the YPG and its allies.
The statement emphasized that the army will continue to defend the Syrian people and protect the country’s sovereignty, and that remnants of the former regime and cross-border terrorist elements will not be allowed to destabilize Syria or target society.
