Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that eighteen years ago Russian forces brutally invaded sovereign Georgia in violation of international law as part of Moscow's imperial policy aimed at subjugating other nations and peoples.

Referring to the consequences of the 2008 invasion, Sybiha said, "The occupation of Georgian territories in 2008 and the relentless annexation that followed directly paved the way for Russia's aggression against Ukraine."

Reaffirming Ukraine's commitment to supporting Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Sybiha stated, "Ukraine remains firmly committed to supporting Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders."

Sybiha concluded, "We will never accept Russia's illegal occupation of the territories of Georgia and Ukraine, nor the 'Russian World,' which brings nothing but destruction, poverty, and human rights violations wherever it goes."
