Brussels, March 16 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that after the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council he discussed increasing sanctions against Russia and European security with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that after the European Union Foreign Affairs Council meeting he held a phone conversation with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.
Sybiha stated that they agreed on the need for unity and determination in European Union decisions, saying: “Maintaining and increasing pressure on Russia is vital. Sanctions are critical to limit Moscow’s ability to finance the war and destabilize Europe and other regions.”
He added that developments in the Middle East were also discussed and emphasized the importance of maintaining global focus on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Sybiha also noted that they evaluated progress in efforts to impose an EU-wide travel ban on Russian fighters involved in the war against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian foreign minister accused Hungary of seizing funds belonging to Ukraine’s state bank and taxpayers, stating that such actions must be strongly condemned across Europe and that the confiscated funds should be immediately returned.
The meeting also addressed the €90 billion loan considered critical for the security of Ukraine and Europe. Sybiha said: “Hungary must not be allowed to hold the entire European Union hostage on strategic security issues.”
