Scientists recorded strong solar flares for the second consecutive day
Moscow, December 30 (Hibya) - According to the Fedorov Institute of Applied Geophysics, two strong X-class flares and six strong M-class flares were recorded on the Sun on Monday morning for the second consecutive day.
The institute's website stated: "At 07:32 Moscow time, an X1.1 flare lasting 5 minutes was recorded in sunspot group number 3932 (S18W50) in the X-ray range. At 07:14 Moscow time, an X1.5 flare lasting 37 minutes was recorded in sunspot group number 3936 (N10W46)."
Solar flares are categorized into five classes based on the intensity of X-ray radiation: A, B, C, M, and X. X-class flares are considered extremely powerful and can cause strong geomagnetic storms.
The Fedorov Institute of Applied Geophysics also announced that a strong X-class flare and six strong M-class flares were recorded on the Sun the day before.
