Prime Minister Schoof emphasized the need to intensify pressure on Russia and to keep supporting Ukraine by all available means.

He announced that, together with several European partners, they held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding peace negotiations. Schoof said: “It is important that Europe plays an active role in these negotiations: no decision about Ukraine should be taken without Ukrainians, and no decision about Europe should be taken without Europeans.”

Schoof added that in the short term, Ukraine needs significantly more support to counter the latest large-scale Russian attacks against civilians and energy infrastructure, and continued:

“This is why the Netherlands is providing an additional €250 million for weapons such as air defence systems and F-16 ammunition, which Ukraine urgently needs. Ukraine and the Netherlands will also jointly produce drones to strengthen resilience and security. We will not abandon Ukraine.”
