Schoof: King’s Commissioners are administrators of the state
Amsterdam, 19 January (Hibya) – Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof stated that during a meeting with the King’s Commissioners, who serve as provincial administrators, at the Ministry of General Affairs, they discussed asylum applications, social pressures on municipalities, and the roles of the cabinet and the provinces.

Emphasizing the closeness of the King’s Commissioners to provincial affairs and their national responsibilities, Schoof said: “The King’s Commissioners are closely involved in the affairs of their provinces. At the same time, they are administrators of the state and have national responsibilities. Therefore, they are important discussion partners for the cabinet. This morning, I received them at the Ministry of General Affairs.”
Referring to the topics discussed during the meeting, Schoof stated: “We addressed issues such as the acceptance of asylum applications, the social pressure that may arise on and within municipalities, as well as the role of the provinces and the cabinet.”
Highlighting the importance of support and coordination with local administrators, Prime Minister Schoof said: “It is important for the cabinet and the commissioners to understand each other’s roles and responsibilities and to grasp how they can support local authorities.”
