Rutte: "A broad-scale military intervention in Rafah could result in disaster"
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced today that he is in the areas of Israel and Palestine.
Rutte, who announced he will hold talks with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, said: "There are three key issues right now: there is an urgent need for more humanitarian aid in Gaza, Hamas must release over 100 hostages immediately, and Israel must rapidly reduce the intensity of its military operations. A broad-scale military intervention in Rafah could result in disaster."
Rutte made a call for an urgent ceasefire, stating:
"All of this requires an urgent ceasefire, which should lead to a sustainable end to this conflict. However, a sustainable political solution is also needed: a Palestinian state that can live securely alongside Israel."
