Rubio: We will not stop until all wrongfully detained Americans are home
Washington, August 11 (Hibya) – United States (US) Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Robert Gilman, who had been detained in Russia for more than four years, has been released and is on his way home.
Rubio said that Gilman is returning to the US to reunite with his family, noting that more than 100 Americans have been released during US President Donald Trump's second term in office.
Rubio thanked Russia for releasing Gilman as part of efforts conducted with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and for allowing him to receive the necessary medical treatment in the US. He said efforts to secure the release of other Americans are continuing.
Rubio said, “We want the immediate return of all other wrongfully detained Americans, including Stephen Hubbard.” Rubio added, “The President will not stop until all wrongfully detained Americans are home.”
