Rubio: We are not asking China for help, we do not need its help
Washington, May 15 (Hibya) - United States (US) Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the US and China agree on preventing the militarization of the Strait of Hormuz and discussed the status of the strait and Iran’s nuclear program.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made remarks regarding regional security issues and diplomatic contacts with China.
Referring to the common position on the Strait of Hormuz, Rubio said, “The Chinese side said they oppose the militarization of the Strait of Hormuz and the toll system for passage, and that is also our position. It is good that we have an alliance, or at least an understanding, on this issue.”
Emphasizing the limits of relations with China and determination regarding Iran, Rubio stated, “We are not asking China for help. We do not need its help. Our position is very clear: Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons.”
