US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that sanctions had been imposed on 8 entities and 2 individuals linked to the Cuban government.

In a post on his social media account, Rubio stated that the United States would not tolerate communist networks in its own hemisphere. He claimed that the Cuban government continues its activities through state-owned companies, joint ventures, and overseas intermediaries. Rubio also stated that the regime's foreign supporters supply military equipment that helps sustain its military forces and poses a threat to the American homeland.

Rubio wrote in his post, “Today, I am imposing sanctions on 8 entities and 2 individuals linked to entities within the regime's financial and maritime shipping network, state-owned import and technical support companies, and China-based firms that supply the regime's military forces.”
