Qatar Prime Minister Al-Thani attends World Economic Forum
Davos, Jan 21 (Hibya) – Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani took part in the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he spoke on regional developments, security architecture and reforms of the global system.
According to a statement by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani participated in a dialogue session at the 2026 World Economic Forum, held in the Swiss city of Davos under the theme “Spirit of Dialogue.”
Addressing regional developments, Al-Thani noted positive steps such as the formation of a new government in Lebanon, the election of a new president in Syria and efforts to calm the war in Gaza, while stressing that these developments do not amount to full stability in the region.
Expressing concern over tensions on various fronts, Al-Thani emphasized that the time has come to restructure regional security and address the root causes of insecurity.
Calling for reforms to the global system, Prime Minister Al-Thani said that “the rapid developments of the past few years have strengthened the perception that the global system needs reforms that have been neglected for decades,” adding that a wise approach is needed to make nations more resilient in managing conflicts.
Al-Thani also referred to mediation efforts regarding Gaza, stressing that the completion of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement does not mean the end of the agreement, and highlighting the importance of the joint mediation role played by Qatar, Egypt and the United States.
