Prevot: I condemn the attempt by a group of soldiers to seize power by force in Benin
Brussels, 7 December (Hibya) – Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot stated in a released announcement that, following ECOWAS, he strongly condemns the attempt by a group of soldiers to forcibly seize power in Benin.
Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot emphasized in his message that, in line with ECOWAS, he strongly condemns the attempt by a group of soldiers to take power by force in Benin.
Prevot noted that, with next year's elections approaching, it is essential to respect the democratic process and reject any actions that threaten the country's stability and development. He reaffirmed Belgium’s strong support for the people of Benin.
Prevot also urged Belgian citizens in Benin to remain in their homes until the situation fully returns to normal.
