Colombian President Petro emphasized regional unity and joint action in his speech at the 2026 International Latin America and Caribbean Economic Forum.

In his address, Petro stated, “If we want to rebuild ourselves, let us see Latin America and the Caribbean as a civilization.” Stressing that countries in the region should act with a shared vision rather than fragmented structures, Petro said, “Let us make a pact among ourselves, unite regions, not countries.”

Drawing attention to the collective strength of Latin America and the Caribbean, Petro remarked, “Then we will truly become what we are: a force for life.”
