Petro: An aggression against Cuba is an aggression against Latin America
Bogotá, May 2 (Hibya) - Colombian President Gustavo Petro opposed claims of a possible military intervention against Cuba and called for peace and sovereignty in Latin America.
Petro made assessments regarding a possible military attack on Cuba.
Petro said: “I do not support a military aggression against Cuba, because that is a military aggression against Latin America.”
Stating that the Caribbean is a zone of peace, Petro said: “We have said that the Caribbean is a zone of peace and this must be respected.”
Emphasizing Cuba’s sovereignty, Petro said: “The only owners of their country are Cuban men and women.”
Assessing the future of Latin America, Petro said: “The American continent will live in peace as long as no one imposes dominance over others. This continent is a continent of freedom, not of occupations.”
Petro concluded his statement with the words: “Honor to José Martí and to the free and sovereign republics of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
