Pavel: We must be ready to defend our values to remain part of the free world
Prague, May 8 (Hibya) - Czech President Petr Pavel recalled that the defeat of fascism was achieved at a heavy cost, drew attention to increasing conflicts around the world, and emphasized that “we must be prepared to protect freedom and security.”
Czech President Pavel stated that Victory Day is not only a celebration but also a reminder of great losses and historical responsibility.
Pavel noted that the defeat of fascism cost the lives of a number of people “difficult to imagine today” and stated that this outcome was the result of years of political and military cooperation.
Referring to current global developments, Pavel said that changes previously considered “impossible” have recently occurred in the international system, conflicts have increased, and the global environment has become increasingly unpredictable.
Pavel concluded his statement with the following message: “If we want to remain part of the free world, we must always be ready to defend the values on which our freedom and security are based.”
