At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Attia briefed Zsolt on recent developments in the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, the worsening humanitarian situation due to Israel’s blockade of aid, crimes committed by occupying forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, and the destructive impact of Israel’s piracy policies on Palestinian tax revenues.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening Palestinian-Hungarian cooperation, Hungary’s support for the Palestinian cause, and establishing a parliamentary friendship committee between the two countries.

Zsolt expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressed the importance of allowing humanitarian aid access, and emphasized the need to start and maintain international political dialogue for a two-state solution. He also confirmed Hungary’s intention to participate in the upcoming international conference on the two-state solution scheduled for mid-month.

The Palestinian delegation also met with Vilmos Fisl, Secretary-General of the Hungarian Churches Federation, Bishop Peter Kondor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hungary, and other Christian figures.

They later met with Ambassador Istvan Berusa, head of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program, and Mr. Zsolt Szirmai, director of the program’s bilateral sector.
