Palestine: UNESCO supports continuation of UNRWA educational activities in Palestine
Ramallah, April 11 (Hibya) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that UNESCO has approved by majority a decision supporting the continuation of UNRWA's educational activities in Palestine.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the decision adopted today in Paris at the 221st session of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), supporting the educational activities carried out by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Palestinian territories.
Out of 58 member states, 51 voted in favor of the decision, two abstained, and three voted against.
The ministry stated: "This overwhelming majority vote shows that the global community supports the continuation of UNRWA’s work until a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue is reached, and affirms the rights of refugees to return, receive compensation, and reclaim their properties."
