Pakistan: Iranian crew evacuated to Pakistan
Islamabad, May 4 (Hibya) – Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that 22 crew members from the seized Iranian vessel “MV Touska” were evacuated to Pakistan and will be handed over to Iran, adding that the process is being carried out in coordination with the United States and Iran.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the process for transferring the Iranian crew had been facilitated.
The statement said that, as a confidence-building measure by the United States, 22 crew members aboard the seized Iranian container ship “MV Touska” were evacuated to Pakistan. It was reported that the individuals brought to Pakistan last night will be handed over to Iranian authorities today.
Meanwhile, it was stated that the Iranian vessel will also be towed back to Pakistani territorial waters after the necessary repairs, in order to be returned to its original owners.
The process was noted to be carried out in coordination with the support of the Iranian and US sides, while Pakistan welcomed such confidence-building measures and emphasized that it will continue its diplomatic efforts for regional peace and security.
