Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that 17 bilateral documents were signed between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan during Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammed Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to Dar’s post, the documents also included the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Joint Declaration, signed by Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammed Shehbaz Sharif and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov.

The 17 signed documents were said to cover various areas, including transit trade, extradition, mutual legal assistance, counter-narcotics, education, academic research and exchange, climate change, science and technology.

Dar also announced that he signed four documents during the visit.

The documents signed by Dar included the Cooperation Program between the Foreign Ministries of Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, the Extradition Treaty, the Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement, and the Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Research and Exchange.

Dar said the commitment to increase bilateral trade between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan to $200 million was also reaffirmed.

The Pakistani foreign minister said the signed documents would further strengthen the institutional ties of cooperation between the two countries and pave the way for new opportunities.

In his statement, Dar described Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan as “two brotherly countries” and noted that the signed agreements would contribute to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
