NASA Defines Broadcast Scope for Firefly’s First Commercial Robotic Lunar Launch
Washington, January 10 (Hibya) - The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the broadcast scope for Firefly’s first commercial robotic lunar launch.
According to NASA's statement, as part of the CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) initiative and the Artemis campaign, Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost Mission 1, carrying NASA's science and technology to the Moon, is scheduled for launch on Wednesday, January 15. The launch will be conducted from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, using SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket.
After launch, Firefly’s Blue Ghost lunar lander will travel toward the Moon for approximately 45 days before landing on its surface. The landing is expected in early March. The lander will carry 10 scientific investigations that will deepen our understanding of the Moon and prepare for future human lunar missions as part of NASA’s Moon-to-Mars exploration approach.
