Montenegro Government introduces regulation on diesel prices
Podgorica, March 20 (Hibya) - Montenegro Prime Minister Milojko Spajic announced that the government has limited the increase in diesel prices to 4 cents by taking maximum measures to cap fuel prices.
Montenegro Prime Minister Spajic stated that the government has adopted maximum measures to limit fuel prices.
Noting that the calculation period was reduced from 15 days to 7 days at the government meeting, Spajic said the decision was taken after consultations with relevant institutions, oil companies, and EU experts.
Emphasizing that the decision was made despite warnings from the Ministry of Finance about potential revenue losses, Spajic noted that protecting citizens and the economy is the priority.
In his statement regarding the decision, Spajic said: “The diesel price will increase by only 4 cents instead of 31 cents. In practice, this means that the price of diesel, which accounts for 86 percent of total consumption, will rise by only 4 cents instead of 31 cents. Accordingly, the price per liter of diesel will be 1.54 euros instead of 1.81 euros starting from Tuesday; the price per liter of gasoline will be 1.51 euros instead of 1.68 euros.”
