Mixed performance in currency markets: Euro and pound gain
Istanbul, July 22 (Hibya) - Major currencies traded in global foreign exchange markets posted mixed performance at the start of the new trading day. The euro and the British pound strengthened against the U.S. dollar, while the Japanese yen, Australian dollar and Canadian dollar showed limited movements.

The euro/dollar (EUR/USD) pair rose 0.08% to 1.1406. The British pound also gained against the dollar, lifting the GBP/USD pair by 0.06% to 1.3379.
Meanwhile, the dollar/yen (USD/JPY) pair slipped 0.01% to trade at 163.14. The Australian dollar edged lower against the U.S. dollar, with the AUD/USD pair declining 0.04% to 0.6994.
The U.S. dollar also weakened slightly against the Canadian dollar. The USD/CAD pair fell 0.02% to trade at 1.4104.
Analysts say investors in the foreign exchange markets continue to closely monitor global inflation data, expectations regarding central banks' interest rate policies, and macroeconomic developments.
