Merz: Our volunteers make our country livable
Berlin, December 5 (Hibya) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in a statement marking the International Volunteer Day on December 5, highlighted the work of more than 30 million volunteers in the country and the value their efforts bring to society.
Merz stated, “Voluntary engagement makes our country livable,” emphasizing the creativity, solidarity, and dedication of all those involved in volunteer work. He added that the government will further promote volunteerism through the “Zukunftspakt Ehrenamt” (Future Pact for Volunteering).
The statement noted that volunteer activities play an important role in social solidarity, community cohesion, and mutual support among citizens. Merz said that supporting volunteer organizations and individuals aims to help them reach broader sections of society.
