Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni made a statement regarding the reduction of waiting lists in healthcare services.

Meloni said, “Reducing waiting lists is one of the greatest challenges facing our healthcare system. The first data for 2026, confirmed by Agenas, show that we are on the right track.”

Meloni stated that during the first six months, the number of medical examinations and diagnostic tests carried out within the planned timeframe increased by 1.6 million compared to the same period last year, adding that this was the result of the efforts carried out under the waiting list reform.

Emphasizing that there are still issues to be resolved regarding access to healthcare services, Meloni said, “Many citizens are still waiting too long to receive healthcare services. For this reason, we will continue to work with determination alongside the regions to further reduce waiting times and build a more efficient healthcare system.”
