Macron: We worked tirelessly for a Europe that protects its citizens
Paris, December 19 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron stated, upon his return from the European Council, that important decisions were taken to strengthen Europe’s security, particularly regarding the protection of farmers and support for Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron made statements following the European Council meeting.
Macron said, “I am returning from the European Council, where we worked tirelessly toward a single goal: a Europe that protects its citizens.”
Emphasizing that this process represents significant progress for both France and Europe, Macron stated, “This is a double step forward for France and for Europe.”
Noting that farmers’ demands are clear, Macron said, “We want a strong safeguard clause, reciprocity, and effective controls on imported products. These demands must be secured and implemented. We will not step back.”
Stating that a decision was made to grant a European loan to Ukraine, Macron said, “These Eurobonds are an important step that gives visibility and coherence to our support.”
Macron underlined that this loan is critical not only for Ukraine but also for Europe, adding, “This loan is also an investment in our own security, because Ukraine is defending all of Europe on the front lines.”
