French President Macron announced that an important step has been taken for the decarbonization and future of industry. Macron stated, "A major announcement for the future of our industry and decarbonization! ArcelorMittal has decided to invest 1.3 billion euros to set up an electric arc furnace in Dunkirk."

The president added that this investment was possible thanks to France’s capabilities, infrastructure, and carbon-free electricity advantages, saying, "Capabilities, infrastructure, and carbon-free electricity: France has these advantages. We are succeeding."

Macron also emphasized, "Transition contracts for the 50 highest-emission plants, adapted energy policies, financing mechanisms, and the firm protection of Europe... We needed these measures to decarbonize our industry. And we have succeeded."
