Lula da Silva: Logistics and integration are vital for Mercosur
Rio de Janeiro, December 20 (Hibya) – Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the launch of the Brazil–Paraguay International Integration Bridge in Foz do Iguaçu was celebrated and highlighted the project’s importance for regional logistics and integration.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva celebrated the opening of the Brazil–Paraguay International Integration Bridge in Foz do Iguaçu (PR).
Sharing technical details about the bridge, Lula said: “At 760 meters in length and with a 470-meter span—the largest on the continent—the bridge has two single-lane carriageways, each 3.6 meters wide, and connects Foz do Iguaçu with the Paraguayan city of Presidente Franco.”
Referring to the project’s related arrangements, Lula da Silva said: “The project is linked to a series of interventions on the Brazilian side aimed at reorganizing heavy-vehicle flows and connecting the BR-277 to the bridge. As a result, truck traffic is diverted away from downtown Foz do Iguaçu.”
Emphasizing the importance of logistics and integration, Lula added: “Logistics and integration are vital for Mercosur. Moreover, building bridges rather than barriers between brotherly peoples has symbolic meaning.”
